Baltimore's Bounce Back for Classrooms

Bounce Back for Classrooms is a classroom-based adaptation of Bounce Back, an evidence-based trauma intervention for elementary school students. Given the influx of students exposed to trauma and related mental health needs, there are a shortage of providers available to meet the demand at the Tiers 2/3 level. Bounce Back for Classrooms offers the opportunity to provide core cognitive behavioral trauma-informed strategies to a larger number of students in the classroom. We refer to this as a Tier 1.5 intervention, delivered at the Tier 1 level, but offering Tier 2 strategies and skills.

The University of Maryland School Mental Health Program is an early adopter of the Bounce Back for Classrooms intervention and is working in collaboration with the University of Montana developers to effectively implement in Baltimore City, adapting the curriculum as needed to meet the needs of our students. The implementation is led by SMHP clinicians and Baltimore City educators.
